An Incredible Weekend

Phoenix and Syracuse working together for the Gospel!

This past weekend in the Syracuse International Christian Church has been inspiring, motivating, and fun, thanks to the visiting evangelist and his wife, Chris and Sonja Chloupek! The Friday after their arrival was a treat for the body of leadership here in our humble gathering, as the Chloupek’s inspired the Leader’s to be absolutely devoted. Sharing about his own struggles, his own victories, and his reliance on God helped, encouraged, and let us know that we all need God’s strength in our lives.

Chris and Sonja Chloupek did an amazing job speaking with those of us in the ‘Cuse, during the Men’s Pancake breakfast, and the Women’s High tea. The sharing and fellowship was amazing thanks to the warmth that the Syracuse disciples gave to our visiting couple. Not only so, but disciples in our midst rose up to the challenge of speaking at this event. And, as always, we are moved by the compelling stories of disciples in our very homes. From our very own Jonathan Pedican sharing about overcoming the world around him, or Mrs. Ouelette sharing her own heart about overcoming life storms, we see that we are truly powerless to overcome the influences of life without God Almighty.

The following Sunday Sermon was given by Christopher Chloupek, with his wife sharing about Jesus’ impact on her life as part of our Communion. Chris demonstrated the Spirit that day as he led us around the bible to teach us that Finishing is everything! Struggling isn’t perseverance, and you better keep running while you have that stitch! His fervor and intensity of speech gave us all an adrenaline boost, coupled with his zeal for worshiping God made it a time to remember! The singing was ‘hot’ with our very own Mister Christopher Adams leading a few, Men Who Dream being one of them. I feel truly inspired and uplifted after that Sunday.

Sonja and Kerri-Sue led a powerful Women's Day!

I truly believe that we, as a movement, are able to have people from totally different backgrounds come across the country (as is shown from a sister’s membership recently) and still be totally unified in mind and thought and purpose! However, it is not mere human effort that gives us this ability, this great understanding, this unity, no I believe that it is given by God’s Spirit, and through none other than Jesus Christ. To have Chris and Sonja with us for one weekend, was as if we had them for a lifetime. As though they were our family already. As a member of the Syracuse International Christian Church, I believe I speak for the entire congregation when I say, “Chris… Sonja… We hope to have you back again very soon. Preach the Word.”
